Geo Cacheing with a twist

SkySite

The premise is simple. This SkySite uses balloon based electronics to provide cell service to poorly populated areas. They give you the GPS coordinates. You find the satellite, and once you return it to them they give you $60. Sounds like a good time. You get to drive out into the country, then go for what's probably a nice long hike, and then get paid for doing it.

Texas areas

I'm eyeing those two, NW of Austin. Anyone want to join me for a hike this weekend?

Dave.

The joys of home ownership.

Today I rediscovered Target. That place really has changed a lot. As I walked around today it seemed as if the store was organized by decore. Some had a modern feel, others had more of a island feel, and yet other sections were just all white. Whoever figured out how to make decorating easy for SWM's should be commended. Anyhow, I went looking for a light, and came home with a light and a fireplace screen. Finally the fireplace will be less frustrating to look at. The light however will be getting returned.

Also has anyone tried these natural/reveal white lights? I did a side by side comparison. I must say I like the natural/reveal a bit better, but I don't think I would've been able to tell had it not been in a side by side comparison.

So here's the house project list I'd like to complete by the end of march (before it get's too darned hot to be in the attic).
1. Reorganize/clean out the garage. The people who had the house before me left me a lot of stuff. Some of it good. Some of it hideous.
2. Install an outlet for the master vanity
3. Replace the Fan in the master bed
4. Replace the exhaust fan in the master bath (possibly both baths).
5. Possibly install recessed lighting into the Living room
6. Possibly wire the opposite wall in the living room so that the room can be reversed. (preferably before the additional insulation)
7. Possibly add a radiant barrier to the roof to help with the summer heat.
8. Re-insulate/seal the ducts
9. Replace roof turbines.
10. Install additional insulation in the attic.

That list doesn't seem so bad. I think there's a definite chance that I will be able to complete it.

edit: Forgot the turbines. When will the bleeding stop!

Random linkage

Apparently all that Stargate SG-1 is paying off. I'd still like to protest these results.

It was a date

It was a date, and it went awesome. You guys planted the seeds of doubt as to whether or not it was a date, but I knew. So I told her, and she knew. So there!

Just being around her makes me smile, and I'm talking about that sickening Jeremy and Jessica kind of beaming. Hopefully it will last.

My hand

Something odd has happenned. Bowling semi-miraculously fixed my hand. I have nothing else that can explain why it's feeling better. I'm very pleasantly surprised. I was really getting worried that I had some repetitive stress or arthritis type injury. However I will reserve judgement until it stays "well" for a prolonged period of time.

On a not so happy note the big tree in my front yard needs to be taken down. It's all hollow on the inside, and has a huge crack going up one of it's sides. The tree dudes have quoted me $900 so far. If anyone has any thoughts on the subject let me know.

My cali trip in pictures.

So as many of you know I spent the holidays in California, but I hadn't been able to really blog it due to "connectivity issues".

So it was really cool to see my family. We spent Christmas eve at Stef and Steve's place (Stef's my cousin).

My cousin Vera and her new son William. He has got to be the best behaved baby I've ever met. I swear he's a 1/10 scale model of my cousin Daniel (see below).

My cousins took me to this place called Charlie Browns market where I found these gems.

Best name for a hot sauce EVER.

Daniel, my behemoth of a cousin.

My friend Emily from College. We used lived next door to each other senior year, and were basically in a study group together. She was my hookup for my honorary membership in Women in Computer Science.

The sweet ride. It's all growl and no balls. Mine seemed to have lots of dash noises, and I had some weird wind noise coming from the top of the windsheild. It doesn't steer all that well either. For those of you wondering why I would ever rent one, it only cost $10/week more than a Focus. Regardless by the end of the week, it had actually grown on me, and I actually enjoyed my time in it.
