Tivo ads and the bane of my existence.

Saw this link over on pvrwire.

People who tivo shows don't watch commercials (except possibly the beginning of the first commercial and the end of the last one). That's why we have pvrs. Tivo viewership should most definitely not be included in advertising ratings.

Instead large networks need to learn that people don't want to be interrupted by commercials. Instead they are going to have to become more creative about there ad placement and distribution means. Allow me to download the show, and sell ads on the website that I have to go to in order to download it. Oh and don't give me some crappy low-res SD signal, give it to me in all it's 720P glory. Then use your page hits to justify ad readership.

People in power don't like change, but it's happening whether they like it or not.

The problem with skipping over commercials is that's how the networks get paid. They are only giving us free content because the advertisers pay them for commercials. If we all owned Tivos and we all skipped over the commercials, advertisers would eventually stop paying for ad time, and the networks would go out of business. I agree the solution here is to innovate, but there are going to be major growing pains along the way.
